Rescue and Hiding

Here is Rescue and Hiding.  We need to discuss the train animation.  Not sure if I am correct with the locations or timing.

Rise To Nazi Power Section

Here is a link to the Rise to Nazi Power section.  It needs a little more polish but I think it is pretty sound.  You need to tell me what you think about the timing Heather.

New Audio files online

Update on Voiceovers:

I re-recorded with my own voice the final script. I have uploaded them to the server in the Voiceovers-placeHolders > NEW_VO_033012 folder.

I have the final shoots schedules this week:
Tues evening with Hindea for the intro.
Friday afternoon for the rest of the narrator/voiceover with Eli.
Flame - will do sometime this week while I have the camera.

I have uploaded the final movie to both vimeo and on the server as well (033112_WGTE Sequence-H264.mov) this has the updated edits, primarily death march and the pre-war sections are most noticeably modified.

We are really on crunch time now. We have to show this to WGTE next week. I need to see real progress on the motion graphics. - have you started working on the final versions? The film is due in the next couple of weeks, so it is absolutely time to get moving on this. Crunch time is now. Please be prepared to show progress Tuesday.

Flame Photo

I'm not very experienced in photography but for capturing the flame in a photo I found this site and video with some helpful information.

http://www.steves-digicams.com/knowledge-center/how-tos/photography-tips/how-to-photograph-fire.html#b

- Site talks about what to do if you want to use a high shutter speed as well as a low shutter speed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsCmrzmv8Ik

- Pretty good video on capturing fire and shows different steps that you may take.
- Instead of the liquid we could use a match, propane, candle, paper or another medium.

Also what if instead of taking a photo of a flame, we photoshopped our own flame? Then that way we could possibly make the flame in the shape of our logo and try to make them look closely alike? I know that it is possible to photoshop a flame but it may be difficult to get it in a specific shape, but just an idea.

Flames Intro

is anyone interested in doing a shoot of a flame? I'd like to do some compositing with something simple, but I'm not sure about how to get a single flame = propane, oil? If someone can do some research on that, then we can set up a shoot. It would be an extreme close up of a single frame that we can use in the intro as a layer... maybe something like this...
Videos that I found that inspire me for the title screens.

I like the parts of this video where they throw in the lyrics, Soilder, victim and etc. They could be used as title screen ideas. Also the "Moment for truth, and lie part in the video as well. It continues this through the whole video.

The very start of this, what if we took all those squares and they were all the images of the holocaust we have and found a placement for the text in there saying "Pre-War" or "The Ghettos."

Final Identity Logo/Design

The above image is the final, selected identity logo/design that will be used for Bearing Witness. The image on top will be predominately used for the video elements while the image on bottom may be used for the packaging.

The logo was created by keeping the ideas of strength, history, and bearing witness itself in mind. The typography used for "BEARING WITNESS" was selected because of its boldness and resemblance to Hebrew lettering, which would represent the history. The flame represents the eternal flame in the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington DC that burns continuously as a memory of those lost during the Holocaust. The flame is made up of six pieces to represent the 6 survivors telling their story in the film.

This design will also play a major part when designing the name plates and the title screens for the different sections, as many of the same elements will be used.

New info: Maps / photos

I attended the Yad Vashem "Echos and Reflections" workshop today, and got some great images! I was thrilled to see that many of the images I had selected as the most compelling historic photos were also used by their experts for teaching purposes, so we must be on the right track!

Anyway, I am going to upload some maps with the locations already pinpointed to the HOMEWORK server. They are PDFs so I can't upload them here.

Look there. Also, check out this website on photos from Auschwitz:

Below are some images to help address the look of the map so that it feels like it is from the 1940, during the Holocaust.

Below are a few blueprints to show the type of paper and line quality.

Lets see some comments, What one do you feel is the strongest and why, and which one do you think is a close second and why? Also, what can I do to each of those to make them a stronger piece?
